1 lb ground beef (or turkey for a healthier option!)
1/2 cup frozen onions (or freshly chopped, I just use frozen to save time)
2 tbsp olive oil
28 oz petite diced tomatoes
2x 15 oz cans of dark red kidney beans
2x 15 oz cans of pinto beans
28 oz can tomato sauce
6 oz can tomato paste
2 tbsp ground cumin
2 tbsp chili powder
Salt and pepper to taste
Saltine crackers and shredded cheddar cheese to serve with chili
Instructions
Heat the frozen onions and olive oil over medium-high heat in a sauce pan. Once the onions are soft, add ground beef and season with salt and pepper to your liking. Cook until brown.
While the beef is cooking, combine all other ingredients in a large crockpot.
When your beef has finished cooking, drain the excess oil then add the beef to the crockpot and stir until all ingredients are well combined.
Cook on low for 4-6 hours.
Serve hot with saltine crackers and shredded cheese.
