A social media content strategy is a plan for what content you will post to social media and what the goal of the content is. It involves the types of posts you will create, the platforms you will use, and the entire goal behind posting on social media for your business.
Social media content strategy doesn't have to be hard. Those four words "social media content strategy" within themselves sound so complicated, but that isn't necessarily the case.
Large brands with marketing teams dedicated to social media probably have an in-depth social media content strategy. But small-medium sized businesses may not have those same resources to put toward social media.
That's why I've created this super simply social media content strategy that I know will make your content planning a breeze!
Here it is: create themed days for your social media posts. Yes, it's really that simple. Here's what I mean by "themed days".
Each day of the week has a "theme" on your content calendar that repeats each week. Here's an example:
Each day of the week has a set theme for what your posts will be about. If you used the example shown above, you would post motivational content every Monday, exercise tips every Tuesday, and so on.
The most important thing to remember is your followers don't have to know the theme for everyday. Sure, you can tell them you do "Tip Tuesday" so they look forward to it, but you don't have to tell them you post about your products every Saturday.
This strategy of themed days makes deciding what to post so much easier, and it creates consistency in your content. Whether your followers consciously realize it or not, they will always know what to expect from your accounts and when to expect it.
To start using this strategy, create themed days relative to your business. It's helpful to first think about what your goals are with social media. Are you trying to drive traffic to your website? Do you want more engagement with posts? Are you trying to get people to buy things through affiliate links?
Then, think about the content you have right now that performs really well. What posts get the most interactions and responses from your followers?
After considering these questions, decide what your theme will be for each day. Here are a few different ideas on what daily themes could be. Remember, it doesn't always have to sound pretty because your followers will not know the name of your theme days!
